Brightening Exfoliant | AHA + BHA + PHA
Gentle Resurfacing Liquid
The Gentle Resurfacing Liquid combines a Triple-Acid Complex of AHAs, BHA and PHA, including Mandelic and Lactic Acid, with a calming blend of botanical extracts to smooth texture, clear congestion and brighten, without the irritation that comes with stronger exfoliants. Effective enough to see results. Gentle enough to actually stick with.
THE DETAILS
- Smooths & Refines A carefully calibrated acid blend dissolves dead skin cells and unclogs pores to reveal visibly smoother, more refined skin with continued use.
- Brightens & Evens Licorice Root and Green Tea work alongside the acid complex to fade the look of dark spots and uneven tone for a luminous, clarified complexion.
- Exfoliates Without Compromise Mushroom, Centella Asiatica and PHA offset potential irritation so your barrier stays intact. even as cell turnover increases.
This exfoliator is as effective as it is soothing.
At its core is a Triple-Acid Complex: a considered blend of Mandelic, Lactic, Glycolic, Citric and Malic Acids (AHAs with larger molecular weights that penetrate gradually and gently), Salicylic Acid (a BHA that works inside the pore to clear congestion) and Gluconolactone (a PHA that exfoliates on the surface while also drawing in moisture). Together they target texture, dullness, pore congestion and blemishes simultaneously.
Green Tea and Licorice Root bring antioxidant and brightening benefits to address discolouration and uneven tone. Mushroom Extract and Centella Asiatica work to soothe and calm in real time, counteracting the potential for redness or reactivity. The result is exfoliation that feels like it's working with your skin, not against it.
Formulated for anyone who has ever found chemical exfoliants too strong, too irritating or too much to incorporate consistently. It's particularly well suited to:
- Skin that is dry, dull and flaky.
- Sensitive or reactive skin that still wants the benefits of regular exfoliation
- Blemish-prone skin looking to clear congestion and prevent breakouts
- Those dealing with dark marks, post-blemish marks or uneven tone
- Skin that is experiencing fine lines or wrinkles
- Anyone using retinoids who wants a complementary exfoliant to alternate with
Triple-Acid Complex
A multi-acid approach to exfoliation. Mandelic, Lactic, Glycolic, Citric and Malic Acid (AHAs) gently loosen and lift dead skin cells to smooth texture and improve brightness, while Salicylic Acid (BHA) penetrates into the pore lining to dissolve congestion and reduce blemishes. Together they target multiple concerns without the harshness of single high-strength acids.
Gluconolactone (PHA)
A next-generation polyhydroxy acid that exfoliates at the skin's surface with minimal irritation potential. PHAs also act as humectants, attracting water to the skin to maintain hydration during the exfoliation process, making this particularly suited to drier or more sensitive skin types.
Licorice Root Extract
An antioxidant-rich, skin-soothing extract that helps to brighten and fade existing dark spots and prevent new discolouration from forming.
Centella Asiatica
A clinically proven skin-calming ingredient rich in amino acids and the active compound Madecassoside. It supports the skin's barrier function and helps neutralise sensitivity and redness.
Apply 2–3 times a week, or as often as your skin tolerates.
To layer: pair with the Pigmentation Corrector Serum for enhanced brightening results.
To alternate: use on days when you are not using a retinoid or Vitamin A product.

FAQS
Your Questions
How often should I use the Gentle Resurfacing Liquid?
How often should I use the Gentle Resurfacing Liquid?
We recommend 2–3 times a week to start, and you can build from there based on how your skin responds and what you feel your skin needs. Most people find a rhythm of every other day works well for ongoing maintenance.
If you have more tolerant skin, daily use is possible, but more is not always better when it comes to exfoliation. Consistent, moderate use will always outperform aggressive overuse.
Can I use it every day?
Can I use it every day?
The Gentle Resurfacing Liquid was formulated to be gentle enough for daily use If you do use it daily, listen to your skin, any persistent redness, tightness or sensitivity is a sign to scale back.
Can I use this alongside retinol or tretinoin?
Can I use this alongside retinol or tretinoin?
Yes, we formulated the Gentle Resurfacing Liquid so that it could easily be paired with a retinoid. We recommend alternating rather than using both on the same night. So if you use the Retinal Clarity Serum on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, use the Gentle Resurfacing Liquid on Tuesday and Thursday. Always make sure to
listen to your skin. Any persistent redness, tightness or sensitivity is a sign to scale back.
Will it cause purging?
Will it cause purging?
If you have acne-prone skin and you are new to chemical exfoliation, you may purge. Purging happens when acids accelerate cell turnover, bring congestion that was already forming under the skin to the surface faster than it otherwise would. It typically looks like breakouts appearing in areas where you already tend to break out. If you do purge, purging should be short-lived, usually 2–4 weeks. Purging should not last months. If you are breaking out in new areas or it is not improving, that is more likely a reaction and you should discontinue use.
Can it help with hyperpigmentation and dark spots?
Can it help with hyperpigmentation and dark spots?
Yes. The AHA complex accelerates cell turnover to bring fresher, more even-toned skin to the surface, while Licorice Root and the broader brightening botanical blend work to inhibit melanin production and fade existing discolouration. Results build over time with consistent use — most people notice a visible improvement in skin tone and the fading of dark spots and post-breakout marks within 4–6 weeks.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Yes, it was specifically formulated with sensitive skin in mind, including those with rosacea. The combination of lower-concentration acids with larger molecular weights means they work more gradually and with less risk of irritation than high-strength single-acid formulas. The soothing ingredients, Centella Asiatica, Tremella Mushroom and Calcium Gluconate, work actively to calm the skin as the acids work. That said, if you have extremely reactive skin, we always recommend patch testing.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The Gentle Resurfacing Liquid is considered low to no risk. It contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid, which falls well within the concentration considered safe during pregnancy — the general guidance is to avoid BHA concentrations above 2%. As with any skincare product during pregnancy, we always recommend consulting your midwife or healthcare provider before use, as they can give you the most personalised advice.
