The Retinal Clarity Serum is a multi-action treatment that works to clarify and rejuvenate the skin, helping to reduce breakouts, smooth uneven skin texture, and minimise the appearance of dark marks, fine lines and wrinkles.
Powered by encapsulated Retinaldehyde (0.05%), a powerful vitamin A derivative (that works 10x faster than Retinol!), this lightweight fluid serum supports skin renewal, helping to smooth texture, refine pores, and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Time-released Salicylic Acid (BHA) works to deeply exfoliate and unclog pores for a visibly clearer complexion. Our unique time-release technology ensures prolonged action against congestion and breakouts while minimising the risk of dryness or sensitivity.
Enriched with patented actives Polylysine and Diglucosyl Gallic Acid, the formula helps to rebalance the skin’s microbiome whilst Niacinamide and Hexylresorcinol - two powerhouse brightening ingredients - work synergistically to fade post-blemish marks, even skin tone, and restore radiance.
Designed for those seeking a high-performance solution to both blemishes and the signs of aging, the Retinal Clarity Serum delivers targeted results without the need for 6 different steps in your skincare routine.
The Retinal Clarity Serum was created for skin that doesn't fit neatly into one category. It's particularly well suited to:
- Oily, combination or blemish-prone skin looking for a retinoid that won't clog pores or aggravate congestion
- Those dealing with post-breakout marks, hyperpigmentation or uneven tone alongside active blemishes
- Anyone in their late 20s, 30s or 40s navigating both ongoing breakouts and the first visible signs of ageing simultaneously
- Experienced retinoid users looking for a formula that addresses blemishes and the signs of ageing in a single step
- Those who have previously found retinoid formulas too heavy, too rich or too irritating for their skin type
- Anyone looking to simplify a complex multi-step active routine without compromising on results
0.05% Encapsulated Retinaldehyde
The most potent over-the-counter form of Vitamin A, it works 10x faster than Retinol. Retinaldehyde accelerates skin cell turnover to smooth texture, refine pores and visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Our patented encapsulation system protects the Retinal's stability, maximises potency and ensures a controlled, gradual release that maintains efficacy from the first pump to the last.
1% Time-Released Salicylic Acid
Extended-release technology delivers this BHA gradually, clearing pores and congestion without irritation. Controlled delivery provides prolonged action against congestion and excess oil whilst significantly reducing the risk of dryness typically associated with Salicylic Acid.
Diglucosyl Gallic Acid
A novel biotechnology molecule activated by the skin's own microbiome. With 60x more brightening power than Kojic Acid, it works at the source of pigmentation to fade post-blemish marks and even skin tone, whilst also soothing redness and minimising the appearance of pores.
Hexylresorcinol & Ethyl Linoleate
A dual-action brightening and anti-blemish active. Hexylresorcinol is clinically proven to be four times more effective than Hydroquinone at reducing dark spots and post-blemish marks, without the irritation. Ethyl Linoleate converts to Linoleic Acid on contact with skin. It helps to target post-inflammatory pigmentation, regulate sebum, and strengthen the skin barrier.
Polylysine
A new-generation precision active that rebalances the microbiome. It works by selectively targeting the bacteria strains that cause blemishes, without disrupting the beneficial bacteria.
If you are new to retinoids, apply your moisturiser first and allow it to fully absorb before applying the Retinal Clarity Serum. This buffers the active ingredients and reduces the potential for irritation during the adjustment period.
To build tolerance: Start twice weekly for 2–3 weeks, move to every other night, then progress to nightly use when comfortable.
To layer: Follow with the Essential Hydration Serum or The Facial Oil to nourish the skin and further support tolerance, particularly during the initial weeks of use.

Your Questions
What is Retinaldehyde and how is it different from Retinol?
What is Retinaldehyde and how is it different from Retinol?
Retinaldehyde (Retinal) is a Vitamin A derivative that sits one conversion step closer to retinoic acid — the active form of Vitamin A the skin actually uses — than Retinol. This means it works significantly faster and with greater efficacy, delivering results closer to prescription-strength retinoids without requiring a prescription. In practice, Retinaldehyde is considered up to ten times more effective than Retinol at equivalent concentrations, whilst being less irritating.
How is the Retinal Clarity Serum different from other retinoid products?
How is the Retinal Clarity Serum different from other retinoid products?
Most retinoid formulas are designed for aging or drier skin types, with rich, heavy textures that can clog breakout-prone skin. On the other hand, acne-focused treatments are often too harsh or don't address long-term concerns like hyperpigmentation and the first signs of aging.
The Retinal Clarity Serum was four years in development specifically to bridge the gap for blemish-prone skin also concerned with the signs of aging.
It combines encapsulated Retinaldehyde with time-released Salicylic Acid — two actives that have never previously been combined in a single formula — in a lightweight, non-comedogenic texture.
Can I use this if I don't have blemishes?
Can I use this if I don't have blemishes?
Absolutely. Retinaldehyde is one of the most clinically proven anti-ageing actives available — independently of its blemish-clearing benefits. It is highly effective for smoothing texture, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin firmness and fading hyperpigmentation. The Retinal Clarity Serum is an equally strong choice for anyone focused primarily on the signs of ageing who simply wants a lightweight, non-comedogenic formula.
How often should I use it?
How often should I use it?
We recommend starting slowly and building up as your skin acclimates. For first-time retinoid users, begin with twice a week for the first two to three weeks, then move to every other night, before progressing to nightly use if tolerated. For those already experienced with Vitamin A, start every other night and build from there. There is no requirement to use it nightly — consistent use two to three times a week will still deliver meaningful results.
Will it cause purging?
Will it cause purging?
If you are acne-prone and are completely new to retinoids or chemical exfoliation, you may experience some purging.
Purging occurs when actives accelerate cell turnover, bringing congestion that was already forming beneath the surface to a head faster than it otherwise would. It typically appears in areas where you already tend to break out and should resolve within two to four weeks. If breakouts are appearing in new areas or are not improving after a month, reduce frequency and reassess.
How do I minimise irritation when starting out?
How do I minimise irritation when starting out?
Start with a lower frequency — twice a week — and build up gradually.
If you have sensitive skin or are completely new to retinoids, apply your moisturiser first and allow it to fully absorb before applying the serum. This buffers the actives and significantly reduces the irritation potential during the initial adjustment period.
Pairing with the Essential Hydration Serum on the same nights is also highly recommended to support barrier health throughout.
Can I use it alongside other actives?
Can I use it alongside other actives?
Yes, but with care. We recommend not using the Retinal Clarity Serum on the same night as other exfoliating actives such as AHAs, BHAs or other retinoids. Alternate between them on different nights — for example the Gentle Resurfacing Liquid on Monday and Wednesday, and the Retinal Clarity Serum on Tuesday and Thursday. When introducing multiple actives, always observe how your skin responds before increasing frequency.
Why is the serum yellow?
Why is the serum yellow?
The bright yellow colour is a direct result of the high concentration of Retinaldehyde — one of the most colour-intensive forms of Vitamin A. It does not leave a yellow tint on the skin. If you notice a very slight residual hue, allow more time for the serum to fully absorb before applying moisturiser on top.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No. Retinoids of all forms — including Retinaldehyde — are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please do not use the Retinal Clarity Serum during this time. We recommend consulting your midwife or healthcare provider before introducing any new skincare actives during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
